Authorities said one or more people shot and killed a child playing in the front yard of a Kansas home. Police Major Violetta Magee told reporters at the scene that the attack, which occurred Wednesday night in Kansas City, Kansas, when it was still daytime, was not a “random act.”
Police haven’t released the child’s name or age, but family members have identified the victim as 6-year-old Sir Antonio Brown, of CBS KCTV. mentioned.
Officers found the wounded boy in the front yard. Magee said he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“Somebody knows who did this,” Deputy Chief of Police George Sims said KCTV said. “Don’t retaliate. Don’t confront them. Don’t harbor them. Call TIPS. Call the police department, so we can continue this investigation and bring it to a swift conclusion and bring these shooters to justice.”

Police did not say if they believed more than one person was involved in the attack, or if the intended target was the boy or the adult who was with him. Police did not immediately respond Thursday to phone and email messages requesting additional information.
“Sir was my godson,” Shenesha Hill told KCTV. “I just want the people who did this to be brought to justice. My master deserves justice. A 6-year-old doesn’t deserve that. No kid deserves that. No parent deserves what my cousin is going through.”
The station reported that just hours before the fatal shooting, Walker was in Kindergarten class at West Park Elementary School.
“He always has something silly or clever to say,” teacher Amanda Minat told KCTV. “Yesterday, I told him to sit still. So, he starts pretending to sleep instead of sitting up. He’s a clown but also really smart. He has a lot of friends.”
