It’s a great bit of theatrics.” Jonesism, and it was Ford’s idea—the kind of thing he had only thought of as having dwelt in Jones for so long… when he grabbed his hat in the face of actor Mads Mikkelsen and pulled his hand back to show the punch—somebody was in the way and he had to straighten up mid-blow Ford pulled the lower muscle of his right shoulder.
In response to being known to perform most of his own stunts, Ford said Respected, “I’m also known to shut down movies because I get hurt, which isn’t something you want to be known for. But hey, shit happens.” (Ford also suffered an injury during the 2015 filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.)
The actor’s shoulder injury halted production for two weeks, and Ford had to sit out another six weeks. Once set for July 2022, the release date has been pushed back a full year to its scheduled June 30 opening date.
Ford reprises his iconic role for the last time in director James Mangold’s new film, replacing director Steven Spielberg. Also along for Indy’s latest ride is his goddaughter, Helena Shaw (Phoebe Waller-Bridge); Nazi scientist-turned-NASA Jürgen Fuller (Mads Mikkelsen); the boat’s captain, Rinaldo (Antonio Banderas); Helena’s teenage boyfriend, Teddy (Ethan Isidore); US government agent Mason (Shawnette Renee Wilson); and Indy’s old ally and Helena’s father, Basil Shaw (Toby Jones), who has gone mad with his obsession with a disc “that could change the course of history.”
