Pasadena, Texas (KTRK) – Someone threw firebombs into an apartment complex parking lot over the weekend, and now the Pasadena Fire Marshal is working to identify the person responsible.
There were at least three reports of this happening over the weekend, and one instance was caught on camera.
It happened on Saturday night in the car park of the Victoria Village Apartment at 1705 Jenkins Street.
On Wednesday, ABC13 learned that four devices were thrown out over the weekend. In the surveillance video sent to us, they appear to be improvised Molotov cocktails.
The video shows someone running into the parking lot, throwing the device onto the sidewalk, and setting it on fire.
The Pasadena Fire Marshall said they want to know the reason behind this other than who did it. It could just be kids getting hurt during summer vacation, but they can’t rule out something more sinister. So far, there have been no reports of damage to the apartments.
“People are being stupid here. Yeah, stupid,” said Jason Jones, who has lived in the Victoria Village apartment complex for four months.
He said he was not surprised to see surveillance video of what could be a third-degree felony.
No one was injured, and there was no property damage, but Jones said it was another example of criminal behavior he described as common.
“This place is rough out here,” Jones said. “Every night, they have boom boxes, they swing big like my finger — every night.”
You couldn’t clearly see the person running out of the frame after throwing a Molotov cocktail, but investigators said they were looking through evidence left behind to find out who they were. If identified, they could face charges of manufacturing an explosive weapon.
