Man killed after shooting during child porn search warrant: Police

Deer Park, Texas (KTRK) – A man has been shot dead after a search warrant for child pornography was served at his Deer Park home, according to police.

On Tuesday, the Deer Park Police Department said officers responded to the 2,500 block of Pickerton Drive to execute a search warrant for promoting child pornography.

When the officers arrived, the homeowner answered the door and told him of the note.

She then reportedly told officers that the man linked to the child pornography investigation was asleep.

The officers then entered the room where the man was sleeping, woke him up, and told him to get out.

It was then that the man did not follow instructions, the police said, and he pulled out a gun, and an officer shot him before turning the gun on himself.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In accordance with department policy, the officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
