Grubhub driver accused of stealing customer’s cat

A Grubhub delivery person allegedly engaged in a cat snoozing while delivering a food order at a customer’s home in San Antonio, Texas, according to local police.

The San Antonio Police Department told CBS News that it responded to a resident who called to report a theft. The alleged victim said the delivery driver took a kitten from her home without her consent.

The woman, Amanda Scoggins, Tell CBS affiliate KENS learned of the incident when its neighbor alerted it to the alleged theft of Smudge, a white cat. Smudge’s mom is a feral cat, so Scoggins said mom, Smudge, and two other kittens stay on the porch, where the delivery driver saw them.

“[My neighbor] He said, “Oh by the way, the driver took your cat.” I was like, “I’m sorry, what?!” KENS Scroggins said. I looked at [the cats outside] And surely there was one, two, and not three.”

Scoggins told the TV station that she had just gotten a collar for Smudge and that it was clear he was being cared for. “We’re there checking them out constantly… We spent hundreds of dollars on supplies to prepare for it,” she said.

Grubhub told CBS MoneyWatch that it stopped the delivery driver during the investigation.
