Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser announces New Studio announcement

Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser has announced his next endeavor, an all-new studio that will make video games and more. Arguably one of the greatest video game studios in the works right now, Rockstar Games has lost a lot of key talent since the release of Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto V And Red Dead Redemption 2. Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies has allegedly been forced out of the studio, writer and actor Lazlow has departed from the studio in recent years, and co-founder Dan Houser may have made a sudden exit from the company in 2020. Dan Houser was more than just your typical CEO as He was a writer on the Grand Theft Auto series and other Rockstar games such as Red Dead Redemption 2And Max Payne 3, and more. Many feared that this key person leaving the studio would hurt things in the long run.

While we’ve yet to see what GTA is like without Dan Houser, he has announced the next studio: Absurd Ventures. The studio is not just another video game studio. Absurd Ventures will make video games, live-action and animated films, books, graphic novels, written podcasts, and more. It is a fully-fledged multimedia company that will have a wide variety of genres. It’s unclear if Absurd Ventures will make a new IP that will be shared between brokers (i.e. a video game they can then adapt into a movie) or if they plan to keep things largely separate. Either way, it looks pretty fun. Dan Houser made the following statement (Via Gematsu) About the news: “We’re building Absurd Ventures to create new universes and to tell great stories, wherever and however we can.”

Given that Dan Houser has managed to make games that draw heavily from film and literature, it’s no surprise that he wanted to branch out into making video games exclusively. It’s not clear when Absurd Ventures will launch its first venture, as the company has been around for at least two years and likely has at least one thing cooking now.
