Secret Invasion Just Killed A Major Character In The MCU – But Proof They’re Alive | Movies | entertainment

Warning: Spoilers prepare for Marvel’s Secret Raid episode 1.

The latest MCU Disney+ show focuses on Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury, who’s been in the franchise since the end of Iron Man back in 2008.

A sort of Captain Marvel 1.5, Secret Invasion follows the former SHIELD director in uncovering a splinter Skrull plot to take over the world.

Alien fans will remember them as the shapeshifters who can assume human form.

The first episode has now aired and ended with a major death for a longtime MCU character.

During the bombing of Moscow, Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill was killed. The former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and Fury sidekick first appeared in 2012’s The Avengers before returning in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron and briefly in Infinity War and Endgame before the Skrull appeared in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

She’s definitely been a stalwart in the MCU for over a decade, but we don’t think for a minute that she’s actually dead. Here’s why. First, and most obviously, it could have been a Skrull who died in Hill’s place. However, whatever the case, there is evidence that Smulders is playing characters in the next big MCU movie, The Marvels.

Secret Invasion is teasing Captain Marvel 2 and starring Jackson’s Fury again, but there’s no sign of Hill in the first trailer. However, if you google “cast of the marvels” Smulders is included. She has also been listed on Wikipedia and Maria Hill’s MCU Wiki page as being in the upcoming movie.

The reference for the latter is an IMDb page and it reads: “Mary Fink is listed as her double on IMDb,” but interestingly now it’s not on the Marvels cast page nor is Smulders. interesting…

Secret Invasion airs on Disney+ and The Marvels hits theaters November 10, 2023.
