Indiana Jones – Six other actors have played Indy on screen with Harrison Ford | Movies | entertainment

Can you believe it but Indiana Jones has been portrayed on screen by more actors than James Bond?

Six stars may have officially played 007, but seven actors have gone on to venture into the archaeological realm of film and television.

Harrison Ford clearly stands above the rest, as the other five appeared in the Young Indiana Jones series and one in the opening scene of The Last Crusade.

The first couple was Neil Pollan and Potalat, who played Indy as a baby and toddler in the first Young Indiana Jones movie, My First Adventures.

Meanwhile, more prominently was child actor Corey Carrier, portraying Indy from ages 8-10.

Carrier, who appeared in eight episodes of Young Indy, grew up watching the original trilogy of films and was nervous to meet George Lucas. He said of creating his own take on the character: “I try to make Indy curious, very curious, but not far from being naughty; just a little bit mischievous. He’s a normal kid.”

Next up was the late River Phoenix who played Indy in 1912 at the age of 13, in the epic opening sequence of the third film, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The young actor had previously played the son of Ford in 1986’s The Mosquito Coast, so his casting made a lot of sense. This famous scene ended with Indy being given his famous fedora hat by a grave robber who outwitted him.

Indy was then portrayed from the ages of 16 to 21 by Sean Patrick Flannery, the main version of the character on Young Indiana Jones who starred in a number of television adventures.

Then, of course, it’s the same Ford who’s played Indiana Jones in four films with the fifth, Dial of Destiny, due out next week. The 80-year-old played Indy in the period of the original trilogy from 1935-1938 and the 1957 setting of the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Meanwhile, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be set mostly in 1969 with a 1944 opening sequence featuring an old digital Ford. The Hollywood legend even appeared in Young Indy Adventure Mystery of the Blues, in scenes set in the 1950’s.

Last, but certainly not least, is George Hall’s old Indy between the ages of 93 and 94, who had a scar and an eye patch for some unknown reason.

He would book Young Indy episodes as Old Indy who lives in the early 90’s and thinks back on his life. Sadly, his scenes were cut from the re-released and edited film versions of Young Indy.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny The Dial of Destiny hits cinemas in the UK on June 28, 2023.
