New Superman team-up David Coranswet to replace Henry Cavill | Movies | entertainment

Fans are still reeling from all the sudden gear changes in the DC Extended Universe, especially the mistreatment of Henry Cavill’s Superman, as recent issues of Black Adam and The Flash tank hit the box office.

Incoming DC studio head James Gunn has been very clear that he wants a fresh start for the Superman Legacy and rumors have been swirling for the past week of the latest round of castings.

A small group of actors went through the all-important chemistry tests to get the best talent mix.

Three actors and three actresses, including Nicholas Hoult, were shortlisted for the roles of Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

Earlier today, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of the pair’s last standing and fans will be very happy.

The three Superman contenders are Holt, fellow Brit and Grantchester star Tom Britney, and our rising star David Coransweet.

Lewis’ trio were Emma Mackie from Sex Education, Phoebe Divinor from Bridgerton, and Rachel Brosnahan from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Earlier in the day, an early leak claimed that Mackie had cast the role, but he was proven wrong. THR went social with its lead announcement and Gunn was quick to confirm.

It’s an all-American sweep as the new Superman with Coranswet being with Brosnahan as the lovable Lois.

In response to the revelation, Gunn tweeted: “Accurate!

Coranswet, 29, is the spitting image of a much younger Cavill. Best known for starring roles in two of Ryan Murphy’s high-profile series – The Politician and Hollywood, he will also appear in the upcoming Apple TV show Lady in the Lake.

Many have been rooting for Mackey but Brosnahan is a multi-award winner, and Gunn has always shown exemplary judgment in chemistry rivalry games across the ensemble films from Suicide Squad to Guardian of the Galaxy.

Currently rumored to be the new Lex Luthour with Bill SkarsgĂ„rd, he’s also rumored to beat out his brother Alexander for the role.

However, there were persistent rumors that Holt was in fact in contention for the villainous role.

What’s certain is that all of the different names that have been in the mix are hot and highly regarded actors, which bodes well for Gunn’s reboot to handle WB’s ever-troubled DC comic book source material.

The Flash, Black Adam, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods was an absolute commercial disaster, matched by overwhelming fan anger and a lack of confidence in the studio after the mess of the cast Zack Snyder put into Justice League.

Gunn reassured fans recently when he declared, “I totally relate to Superman because he’s all that I am. He’s an outsider who feels like an alien, but also an absolute insider, because he fucks Superman. And that’s about as sweet as I feel.”
