Anime Expo faces Fire Marshal amid record attendance

Anime Expo continues to grow every year as more anime and manga fans are attracted to it than ever before, but it seems that due to record attendance this year, the Anime Expo ran into Fire Marshall during a very busy time on its opening day! The number of anime and manga fans has increased in the past few years specifically, and there have been notable results with the likes Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Dragon Ball Super, and Oshi no Ko And more world domination in different ways due to the number of fans watching over these days.

This growth in fans has seen attendance increase with Anime Expo as well, and after adjustments made to the annual anime convention due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, it seems more fans have flocked to the convention than ever before. In fact, there were so many that the Los Angeles Convention Center entrance doors were locked by the Fire Marshal and fans were not allowed into the event for a while as the area was stretched to capacity due to record attendance.

Anime Expo 2023 faces the Fire Marshall

As noted by Megan Peters of ComicBook.com, the Anime Expo entrance doors were closed by Fire Marshal due to the number of people who were already attending. This lasted for about an hour as more people were eventually let in, but it also shows how huge the Anime Expo event is. Not only has it been expanded with more global announcements of new projects now in the works, but it also has some of the key names of those projects in attendance as well.

With those attending Anime Expo excited to not only see some world premieres of new anime later this year, but also anticipate announcements of future projects in the works now, the record attendance for the event’s opening day makes a lot of sense. There’s still a lot planned for the rest of the weekend, so it remains to be seen if attendance will be stacked up in the following days.
