Officials said Gloristine Pinckney, 73, who had been sleeping in the car, got out when the forklift hit her and she fled. Brown allegedly followed her and hit her with a forklift and ran her over.

He is also accused of stealing the victim’s car. Pinckney’s car was later recovered by investigators near Brown’s home.

Pinckney’s body was found under the forklift. Officials said she did not know Brown and did not determine why she fell asleep in her car before her death.

The sheriff’s office said Brown was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault, robbery and “other related charges.” He was being held in the Charles County Detention Center without bond.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office has not released any information about a possible motive.
