The original Super Mario RPG boss is not back for the new Nintendo Switch version

Last month, a new edition of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars Nintendo Switch announced. The original version of the game was released for the Super Nintendo in 1996 and was directed by Chihiro Fujioka. Since the remake’s announcement, there have been a lot of questions about who might be involved in development, and it looks like Fujioka won’t be returning. The director recently revealed this way on Twitter, but was quick to note that he was “very surprised and delighted by the news”. It looks like this time Fujioka will be playing the game mainly as a fan!

Fujioka has been involved in a lot of classics throughout his career, but it’s clear that he holds a special place in his heart Super Mario RPG. Last year, the director told MinnMax he’d like to direct a true sequel to Super Mario RPG as the last game of his career. With the new installment set for release on November 11th, this could only drive interest in a follow-up. Fujioka was already involved with the Mario & Luigi RPG series, but told MinnMax that he “would like to go back and create a Mario RPG where you only control Mario.”

Super Mario RPG It is often considered one of the best games of the SNES era. The game offered turn-based gameplay similar to the Final Fantasy series, but with a storyline focusing on Nintendo characters such as Mario and Bowser. The game also introduced a host of original characters, from the villainous Smithy to the heroic Gino. popularity Super Mario RPG It has led to its being re-released in several different forms over the years, from the Virtual Console on the Wii and Wii U, to the Super NES Classic mini console. Fans were hoping to see it released through Nintendo Switch Online, but Nintendo opted for a re-release instead. We hope the remake offers enough quality of life improvements to make this a premium version!
