Freddie Mercury – Queen at Live Aid tops UK’s greatest festival moments poll | music | entertainment

Once again summer has arrived and with the sunny weather also comes the festival season.

Over the past 50 years there have been some iconic live music moments, including this year’s Glastonbury concert.

In fact, Sir Elton John’s latest UK gig at Worthy Farm last month was voted the second most popular festival moment of all time, according to a poll of 2,000 Britons by Specifications.

Still, Rocketman’s 29 percent of the vote can’t be beaten by Freddie Mercury’s 35 percent hit for the live-aid mega-group Freddie Mercury and Queens, which recreated their biopic Bohemian Rhapsody a few years ago.

During this spectacular performance at Wembley Stadium in 1985, the band performed Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, Hammer to Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions.

According to the new poll, 83 per cent of Britons think festivals are the best way to see live music, and more than half say it’s one of the main things they like to do in the summer.

Along with Queen and Elton John in the Top 30 Most Infamous Festival Moments of All Time are the likes of Adele, The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix.

Not every moment is a musical show, however, with Greta Thunberg’s Glastonbury 2022 speech making the list along with others. Check out the full list of results below.
