Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date – New Console Coming Much Sooner Than Expected | games | entertainment

A new report has stated that the next generation Nintendo Switch may launch much sooner than expected. The original Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. The Switch Lite followed two years later in 2019, and an OLED model in October 2021. With the console closing in on its seven-year anniversary, there are rumors that the Nintendo Switch 2 will debut in the first quarter of 2024.

Sharp is rumored to be making screens for the new device, while a European developer is said to have a development kit.

It’s sure to make the next few Nintendo Direct conferences worth watching, as we get closer to the official reveal.

In terms of Nintendo Switch 2 games, the lack of footage suggests that Metroid Prime 4 could be one of the biggest Nintendo Switch 2 games at launch. A new 3D Mario game will also be compatible with the new device.

Sadly, it’s not likely we’ll see a new Legend of Zelda game anytime soon, though don’t be surprised if improved versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom appear.

Nintendo will also be reviving more of its dormant franchises, like F-Zero and Kid Icarus.
