Narrative and cinematic, director Christopher Nolan is one of Hollywood’s most ambitious storytellers, and during his upcoming film Oppenheimer Based on a real character, it has gone to great lengths to bring the story to life in boundary-pushing ways. Cillian Murphy stars as J. Robert Oppenheimer, who will come to be known as the “Father of the Atomic Bomb,” with the film chronicling the development of the weapon that would change the face of history forever. Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer Shot in IMAX, this epic film plunges audiences into the stunning ambivalence of a mysterious man who must risk the destruction of the world in order to save it.
The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his wife, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. Academy Award winner Matt Damon portrays General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey Jr plays Louis Strauss, founding commissioner of the US Atomic Energy Commission. Academy Award nominee Florence Pugh plays psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie plays theoretical physicist Edward Teller, Michael Angarano plays Robert Serber and Josh Hartnett plays pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence.
Oppenheimer It also stars Academy Award-winner Rami Malek and reunites Nolan with eight-Oscar-winning actor, writer and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh.
The cast includes Dane DeHaan (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets), Dylan Arnold (Halloween franchise), David Krumholtz (Buster Scruggs song), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises).
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: Triumph and Tragedy J. Robert Oppenheimer Written by Kay Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Charles Roven of Atlas Entertainment, and Christopher Nolan.
Oppenheimer It was shot in a mixture of 65mm and 65mm IMAX-format film photography, including, for the first time ever, sections in IMAX analogue black and white photography.
This new movie marks Nolan’s first since 2020 Tenetwhich also marks his first collaboration with Universal Pictures Entertainment.
Oppenheimer It will be shown in theaters on July 21st.
