As an avid online shopper, I’m constantly on the lookout for a great deal – and Prime Day is one of the biggest shopping events of the year. With the promise of deep discounts for Amazon Prime members, I was looking forward to an upgrade Built-in air fryer or espresso machine, while saving large amounts of cash. After all, this is what Prime members have been waiting for all year long!
But, while there were plenty of deals on Amazon, I was disappointed that there weren’t huge deals on some of the best home and kitchen appliances. After much hype, some discounts for popular brands/devices kicked off a staggering 7% drop, with the single item hitting the 50% off mark. Of course, there were more discounts on products that weren’t so desirable, but great deals did stand out for this savvy shopper.
Furthermore, when browsing other retailers, I was able to find the same product on sale for the exact same price. Which made me wonder what all the fuss was about?
With all that said, here are the three reasons why I’m disappointed with Prime Day.
1. You’ve seen better deals on Black Friday sales
Black Friday deals are another can’t-miss shopping event on the calendar, and you’ve seen even better sales and huge deals during this event.
Perhaps the main advantage that Black Friday has over Prime Day is the huge number of retailers that offer competitive prices and incredible discounts. You’ve made some great savings on home appliances purchases like this one The best vacuum cleanersor even a Best microwave during this time.
Granted, Prime Day is geared toward Amazon-owned brands, and you’ll likely save if you’re not freaked out about the products. However, if you have a favorite device, and don’t mind waiting until the end of the year, you can probably save even more money during Black Friday.
2. Only unpopular products are heavily discounted
As with most sale items, it is usually the unpopular products/brands that end up with massive discounts. And if you were expecting a lot of great deals from major household and kitchen appliance brands, you might be disappointed.
Additionally, you may be tempted to buy something you don’t actually need, simply because of the cheap price. It might be great for the pocket, but it will probably cost you in quality and convenience. So if you are looking to buy anything from anyone The best air fryers to The best robot vacuumsIt might be worth doing some research and reading reviews before spending your hard-earned money on an item (or items!) that don’t work for you. Plus, you don’t want to end up with a messy countertop of discounted items you won’t be using!
In any case, Prime Day deals are still a great opportunity to get a bargain, depending on what you’re looking for. After all, every penny counts! So if you want more tips, check out the top Day trades live blog Recommended by our Deals Editor to save you time.
3. I’ve seen better deals elsewhere
One thing I noticed is that the Prime Day prices for some homes and kitchen appliances weren’t actually the lowest or cheapest ever. After browsing other online retailers, I found a similar or cheaper price for a Prime Day sale item.
In fact, some brands have been having summer sales of their own and have actually lowered their prices. So if you’re looking for a brand or product in particular, you can save even more money by simply shopping directly with the retailer.
Another thing worth noting is that some kitchen appliance deals may not be as good as they seem. And while some items had a great “Prime Day Deal” price, they were previously sold for the same price. So it’s worth assessing how much you’ll actually be saving, or if you’re willing to wait for a better deal.
