Cobra Kai star invites fans to promote superhero movie during actors’ strike | Movies | entertainment

Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña called on DC fans to promote their upcoming superhero movie during the actors’ strike.

SAG-AFTRA agreed Thursday to join the ongoing writers’ strike in their fight for fair pay and safeguards against artificial intelligence.

This will leave hundreds of stars unable to promote their upcoming movies, and Maridueña — best known for his role in Netflix’s Cobra Kai — took to Instagram this week with a solution.

“First of all, I hope the problem can be resolved quickly,” he began.

“But with that being said, it must be resolved in the right way and people who claim the right to live, work and thrive in business should be allowed, and should be able to do so.”

Maridueña regretted that he would not be able to participate in the press release planned for the film, which will be released in cinemas on August 18.

However, Blue Beetle has already amassed a sizable fan base, which the star hopes will generate enough support to make the movie a success.

“I love you all, to all the supporters,” he told his 3.2 million followers.

To King’s Battalion and Blue Beetle! You’re killing it! I won’t be able to promote this movie, but you can.

“And together we can. Let’s do this for culture, let’s do this for society.”

Let’s do this to give others a chance. And most importantly, let’s kick the a**! I’m so excited.

Thank you to everyone who has been supportive, and we’ll see you in theaters August 18th.

In his video, Maridueña also thanked the cast and crew who helped bring Blue Beetle — who first appeared in comics in 1939 before being bought by DC Comics in 1983 — to life.

The supporting cast includes Bruna Marquezine, Raul Max Trujillo, George Lopez, and Susan Sarandon.

Aiming to launch a new DC Universe that will continue with James Gunn’s Superman Legacy, the film follows a college graduate who gains extraordinary abilities when he fuses with an ancient exoskeleton.

Blue Beetle will hit theaters on Friday, August 18.
