Katy, Texas (KTRK) – No shelter is in place as crews battle a fire at a recycling plant that was sending smoke into the Katy area Friday night, according to fire officials.
Officials said the fire was raging in the northern part of town, along the corner of Katie Hockley and Clay Road.
In videos sent to ABC13 by viewers, thick smoke can be seen billowing from the factory.
The Katy Fire Department is actively working at the scene, trying to contain the fire, according to the Katy City Office Emergency Management.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire or whether there were any injuries.
Officials said they are monitoring the situation closely and are confident the fire is under control.
