Keanu Reeves’ next John Wick movie new release date announced after delay | Films | Entertainment

Last year, John Wick Chapter 4 stormed the box office and left fans with an ambiguous ending for Keanu Reeves’ assassin.

After being shot, the hitman lay dying from his bloody wounds before the next scene had Winston and the Bowery King at his grave.

We never saw a body and with John Wick 5 already in the works, we have no doubt he’ll be back.

In the meantime, Reeves returns as the character in the spin-off movie Ballerina, which is set between the events of John Wick 3 and 4.

Ana de Armas stars in the title role as Rooney, after her cameo appearance played by another actress at the start of Chapter 3.

Ballerina follows Rooney, a ballerina seeking revenge by hunting the murderers of her family. During the movie, she will be under the protection of Ian McShane’s Winston and Lance Reddick’s Charon. For the latter, this will be his final big-screen role following his sudden death last year and his character’s demise in Chapter 4.

Reeves returns as Wick in Ballerina, although it’s not clear how big his role in the spin-off prequel will be. Shot in 2022, Ballerina was set to release on June 7, 2024 but has now been delayed a year and there’s good reason for the move.

According to Deadline, the John Wick movie will now release on June 6, 2025. The reason is that franchise director Chad Stahelski has just signed a new deal with Lionsgate to oversee the series’ future.

The latest is that he’s working with Ballerina director Len Wiseman on extra action scenes for the movie.

No further news on John Wick 5 at the time being, but given the delay, we wouldn’t expect Chapter 5 until at least 2026.
