One Wordle clone to rule them all! Lordle is the perfect daily puzzle game for LOTR fans | Games | entertainment

Of all the versions of Wordle that have appeared in recent weeks, Wordle might be the strangest. Wordle is the daily puzzle game that has taken the world by storm. The goal is to discover a mysterious five-letter word in six guesses or less. The popularity of the game has given rise to countless replicas online, including an adult-only version called Lewdle, a math-based version called Nerdle, and now, perhaps strangest of all, the daily Lord of the Rings puzzle titled Lordle.

If you’ve played Wordle in the past, Lordle should be instantly recognizable. It plays just like Wordle, with only one difference.

Instead of trying to figure out any normal five letter words, Lordle’s words are taken from the pages of Lord of the Rings.

The official description reads “Use only five-letter words (including names) in the main body of Lord of the Rings.”

One day the answer may be “Bilbo”, while the other answer may be “Gimli”, or perhaps “Arwen”.

If you consider yourself a hardcore Lord of the Rings fan, then Lordle should offer a decent challenge.

If you’re not quite sure about the rules, you’ll need to guess the five-letter word within six attempts.

For each guess, letter tiles will appear in one of three colors. If the color of the square turns gray, the letter will not appear in the word you are guessing.

If the tile turns yellow, then the letter you guessed is in the word, and not in the correct position. If the color of the tiles turns green, then this means that the letter is in the word and in the right place.

The site keeps track of your stats, displaying the number of correct answers you’ve managed, and your current winning streak.

If you really want a challenge, Wordle has a hard mode, which can be turned on in the settings.
