Microsoft is always looking for new ways for gamers to customize their Xbox experience. In its ongoing attempts to do so, the company has rolled out a new Xbox Update preview for Alpha users. The new update will contain a few quality of life improvements, including the ability to turn off the console startup sound. For anyone who runs their system late at night, perhaps when the rest of the house is asleep, this is a very nice option. It’s definitely not a game changer, but it’s great that Xbox plans to give all users that option in the future.
In addition to this new audio option, the latest Xbox update will also introduce a number of different fixes for many problems. According to the official Xbox Wire websiteUsers should expect to see the following:
apps
- Fixed an issue where the Xbox Accessories app would unexpectedly close when configuring a console.
My games and apps
- Fixes to address an issue where the list of addresses when filtered by “Installed” and “Ready to Install” in the full library was not always accurate.
- Additional fixes to address an issue where the full library keeps loading until console restarts.
System
- Various updates to correctly reflect the local languages across the console.

Now that these issues have been fixed, there are a number of other known issues that the company is looking to fix. Xbox users who want to consider these types of Alpha releases can do so by accessing the Xbox Insider Hub on their console and selecting “Join new episodes” under the Activities tab. Clicking on that will prompt the user to fill out a survey, which will make them eligible. Many users will be more than happy to wait for these updates for a public release; However, those interested can help Xbox make the console more user friendly!
