New York — The head of the country’s top public health agency on Wednesday announced a change to the organization, saying it was not responding to COVID-19 and needed to get smarter. The planned changes at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — which CDC leaders call a “reset” — come amid criticism of the agency’s response to COVID-19, monkeypox, and other public health threats.
