Samsung Electronics’ first-quarter profit beat market expectations thanks to strong chip demand

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd on Thursday reported an estimated 50% jump in quarterly operating profit to post the highest first-quarter profit since 2018, beating expectations as strong demand supported memory chip prices.
