Samuel L. Jackson Says Kenan Thompson Blocked Him

On about half of the weekends throughout the year, Saturday Night Live Live stream from 30 Rock’s Studio 8H. Providing audiences with an hour and a half of live comedy, the Lorne Michaels-led show is currently broadcasting its 47th season on NBC. Sometimes hosts are praised after they’ve hosted the show five times. Other times, they were banned after they appeared once.

When it comes to someone like Samuel L. Jackson, he falls into the second group of hosts, if any. While the beloved Hollywood mainstay isn’t technically banned from the series, he blames her for a long time SNL Star Kenan Thompson for causing a script that prevented him from appearing on the show nearly a decade ago. You see, Jackson said saucy lips during one sketch in an episode where he spoke.

“Kenan prevented me from Saturday Night LiveJackson told guest host, SNL graduate, Leslie Jones to make an appearance The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “He didn’t cut me off fast enough and I said the forbidden word on TV. He was supposed to cut me off!”

The incident occurred during a 2012 episode of the show when Jackson appeared on “What’s Up With This?” fee. In it, Jackson dropped a full f-bomb before Thompson, playing a sketch talk show host, reminded Jackson that swear words cost the show money. Then Jackson finished the drawing by dropping “sh-t” as well.

Thompson is SNL’s longest-serving member, and last year, he said he was in no hurry to leave the show. He is currently in his eighteenth year on the show.

“We’re in season 46 now – I’ve been there for 17 years [years], explained. “It’s a wild place! That’s why I’m in no hurry to leave because I’ve never seen anything like this and second place, not many live shows left. It never gets old because it’s a comic strip and it changes every week.”

Thompson added of his earlier years, “I was either a child actor in movies…or I was just a TV kid and that’s all I did.” “You’re not a working person who moves from one job to another and you just have a career. This was a new kind of thing. Our generation was focused on getting other jobs and other gigs.”

Saturday Night Live It flows entirely on Peacock.
