The OnePlus Nord 2 explosion saga continues with another blast

OnePlus launched the Nord 2 5G smartphone back in July 2021. However, the phone has remained in the news for all the wrong reasons. After several people reported the device exploded over the past few months, a new report now says another Nord 2 unit is detonated.

As per Twitter user Lakshay Verma (Tweet embed), the OnePlus Nord 2 unit owned by his brother exploded in the victim’s hand while he was on the phone. This reportedly left metal fragments stuck in the victim’s palm and face.

In a now-deleted tweet, Lakshay also confirmed that the two brothers went to the OnePlus service center in Connaught Place, New Delhi to look for a solution. The service center reportedly told the victim to wait for two to three days after which they called to pick up the burned device, and said they couldn’t do anything about it.

Pictures of the damaged phone (which was part of a later deleted tweet) after the explosion revealed a device that was irreparably damaged. The explosion itself appears to have occurred around the left edge of the phone, something that has been observed in Nord 2 units that have also exploded previously.

This incident is the latest in about six explosions observed with OnePlus Nord 2 users since the phone was launched. indianexpress.com has reached out to OnePlus for a statement on the same topic. We’ll update when the company releases a statement.

We take such incidents very seriously. Our team has already reached out to the user, and we are in the process of gathering details to further investigate this matter,” OnePlus said in a previous statement in November last year when a similar incident surfaced with Nord 2.
