But it’s also a role that requires a bit of a physical transformation and now Poulter is opening up about the extreme transformation he’s had to undergo – and says he wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
talk with independent (via digital spy), Poulter said there wasn’t much he could discuss due to Marvel’s priority on secrecy but did talk about the work he put in to fit the material needs of the role.
“It’s hard to talk about that because with Marvel everything is a secret squirrel,” he said. “But the most important thing is that your mental and physical health should be number one, and aesthetic goals should be secondary, otherwise you will end up promoting something unhealthy and unrealistic if you don’t have the financial backing of a studio that pays for your meals and training. Very distinct in that respect, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to do what I did to prepare for this job.”
He also talked about how much food he should be consuming as part of the program noting that it’s in maintenance now, which is easier in terms of diet, but the process itself was a bit tricky.
“I’ve gone through a series of different diets over the past few months,” he said. “Now I’m on maintenance, which is pretty good.” “I don’t overeat, and I don’t cut food. I just maintain my weight. I’ve had periods of looking at food and feeling like I can’t cope with it, and then you blink and the next minute you’re ready to eat furniture because you’re so hungry.”
