Rory McIlroy did a crazy job in the lead in the final round of The Masters and completed it with a sickly hidden punch that every fan was celebrating.
Coming to Sunday at Augusta National Golf Club, Rory McIlroy wasn’t part of the main story. After playing the infantry on the first 54 holes, he was seated only one place, behind Commander Scottie Scheffler by ten shots.
Next, we saw what Rory can do when every part of his game is working. On Sunday, he walked out and off the field with phenomenal play from start to finish. He walked to hole 18 with a 7-under round action but put the tee in the bunker. His second shot went from bunker to bunker at an impossible angle into the hole due to the ripples and slopes of the green.
Impossible for the average person at least.
Instead, McIlroy played a massive shot at the top of the slope and let it squirt toward the hole – then kept rolling until he found the bottom of the cup to create an electric spectacle on the final green.
Rory McIlroy dominates the final round of the Masters: Golf fans react in celebration
Golf lovers everywhere were totally in love with the moment Rory created in Augusta.
With Schaeffler playing golf with agility and precision, McIlroy’s gigantic moment likely won’t be enough for him to pick up the elusive green jacket that would allow him to complete a Grand Slam.
However, with his best Tour Masters to date and possibly the best finish of his career tournament, suffice it to say that Rory left the track feeling as good as you can without getting the victory.
