Announcing the 2023 Football Hall of Fame Finalists

On Wednesday, the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame finalists were announced with Darryl Reeves, Joe Thomas and Dwight Freeney in their eligible senior years.

The dream of any NFL player once his career is over is to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. On Wednesday night — after announcing Tuesday was postponed in the wake of Damar Hamlin’s league-shaking injury — the 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the Class of 2023 were announced.

As they are among the 15 players about to be honored at Canton, the list is filled with well-known names. However, there are three NFL greats in their first year of Hall of Fame eligibility who are finalists: Joe Thomas, Daryl Reeves, and Dwight Freeney.

They were joined, as mentioned, by a group of well-deserved finalists.

2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame Finalists Announced: Complete List of Finalists

With all the votes tallied, here are the 15 finalists for the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame in the modern era:

  • Jared Allen
  • Willie Anderson
  • Round Barber
  • Dwight Freeney
  • Devin Hester
  • Torey Holt
  • Andre Johnson
  • Albert Lewis
  • Daryl Reeves
  • Joe Thomas
  • Zack Thomas
  • DeMarcus Ware
  • Reggie Wayne
  • Patrick Willis
  • Darren Woodson

All three first-year candidates would eventually turn up, but Thomas and Reeves seemed to have an exceptional chance of being first-ballot candidates.

Thomas is one of the best offensive tackles of the modern era and has an All-Pro award and accolades to back that up. It would be shocking if he wasn’t drafted into the class of 2023. As for Revis, he was one of the best players in NFL history in his prime with four All-Pro selections and has gone on to find success in a lengthy career.

Furthermore, the other candidates with the best condition to enter this year’s class will be Torey Holt, DeMarcus Weir, Devin Hester (or at least he should be), Andre Johnson, and Patrick Willis.

Now that the finalists have been announced having been narrowed down from 129 candidates to 28 semi-finalists up to this point, the next step will be the final meeting in January to determine the class of 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees to be enshrined in Canton, oh in August.
