JoJo Siwa’s Missing Children’s Choice Awards Invitation Was an ‘Outright Mistake’

JoJo Siwa may have been nominated for a Kids’ Choice Award on Saturday, but the “Dance Moms” alum says Nickelodeon didn’t invite her to the big show.

Siwa said on Saturday in Post the video on her Instagram. “I’m not sure why, but I didn’t get an invite.”

She wrote in a comment: “I don’t want anyone to think it was my choice not to go…. I simply didn’t get an invite.”

However, a source close to the show’s production told me that the missing Siwa ticket “was an outright mistake”.

The source explained that the error occurred “due to the audience size being reduced a lot due to the COVID protocols.”

Siwa was nominated for Favorite Social Music Star. She took the award in 2019, but Dixie DiAmelio took it home this week.

Shortly after Siwa’s Instagram, chatters on Twitter wondered if Nickelodeon was suddenly having trouble becoming an outspoken LGBT advocate after her exit in 2021. “This has nothing to do with her as a person,” the source said. “This is far from reality and very upsetting. It was a really unfortunate mistake and she definitely should have been there.”

Nickelodeon and Siwa representatives declined to comment for this story, but executives will reach out to Siwa to “try to make things right,” the production source said.

In January, Siwa celebrated the first anniversary of her exit as a member of the LGBTQ community. “In the last 365 days I felt more in love than ever before. A year ago today I posted this photo and shared it with the world that I am gay,” she wrote in one of her Instagram posts.

Hosted by Miranda Cosgrove and Rob Gronkowski’s 2022 KCAs, held at the Parker Hanger in Santa Monica, featured performances by Jack Harlow and Kid Cody.
