Ultimatum: Madeleine regrets how she talked about Colby

Spoiler alert: This piece contains spoilers for the ending and reunion of “The Ultimatum,” which is now streaming on Netflix.

Despite the turbulent journey on the first season of Netflix’s pilot dating show “The Ultimatum,” Madelyn Ballatori and Colby Kissinger overcame odds to end up together — and they have a baby on the way.

In the end, the cowboy hat-clad Colby made an offer to Madeleine, who enthusiastically accepted. But what is even more shocking is that the couple chooses to marry on the spot.

“I think he’s a very confident person,” Madeline says. diverse. “I don’t think he coped with the idea that it didn’t work out for him.”

“I was obligated,” Colby adds.

Before making that commitment, they teamed up with two other members of the cast: Madeline with Randall and Colby with April. But the selection ceremony wasn’t entirely smooth sailing.

The pair thought about one of the season’s most surprising moments: Nate Lauren’s proposal (moments after Hunter’s show to Alexis). Right before he even asked the question, Nate whispered across the table that he’d pick Madeleine—who had already gotten close with Randall.

“I mean, you see my thoughts right on my face,” Madeline says. “It was really, ‘What the hell is this?'” Why?’ I made my intentions clear. It didn’t make sense to me. So to see a suggestion 10 minutes into that, he continued like, “What is this guy thinking?”

“I had made up my mind, and it was Lauren, the one who went into this experience with him. And I think that kind of made him a little uneasy in that position he was in,” Colby says. “Honestly, if I had known my girl was about to go with a guy I would probably lose her for, I would probably have done the same.”

While things eventually worked out, Madeline did feel some regret about the experience — the way she spoke about Colby in Confessions and the other cast members. “I look like that jerk,” she says. “It shows my complaint, but not my appreciation. In hindsight, I was like, ‘Maybe I’m not expressing these things enough.'”

“Seeing how Colby talks about me so fondly, I was like, damn, that’s cool,” she continues. “It’s not cliched to talk about someone like that. It makes me feel good. So I want to give that back to him. And I wish I might have done it a little more.”

“Holy smoke, it was just fine,” Colby says of watching those moments. “I was shocked by some of the things that happened… but I already knew that was what happened. So overall, amusing.”

While Madeleine changed her tune about Colby, what about her friends, who vocally opposed the relationship during the series? “My friends know me. They know that I make very good and strong decisions by myself.” “So I come to him and he chooses Colby, they are completely behind me 100%. They back me up, that’s for sure.”
