PlayStation developer sparks takeover speculation with new tweet

Rumors have been circulating for weeks that Sony is about to finalize a new acquisition, and according to the latest grumbling, this could be the biggest acquisition by PlayStation yet. One of the names thrown here and there is FromSoftware, a subsidiary of Kadokawa Corporation. The fact that the Japanese studio is owned by another company makes the FromSoftware deal more complicated, but far from impossible. For those who don’t know: FromSoftware is the developer behind the likes Evil spiritsAnd blood borneAnd Sekiro: Shadows die twiceAnd armored coreand recently, elden ring. There haven’t been any credible claims linking FromSoftware to PlayStation, but a new tweet from a PlayStation employee has raised some eyebrows.

The tweet comes in the manner of Shawne Benson, the manager and global head of third-party wallet for PlayStation. Not many tweets, but enough to spark speculation in an environment ripe for speculation due to all the recent rumours. The tweet in question was posted this week, and it shows Benson posing with a giant elden ring The statue is accompanied by the caption: “Just show my best friend at the new job around campus.”

Again, there isn’t much to this tweet, and without the heated up with PlayStation acquisition rumors, this might not get any attention, but this virtual reality is just an assumption. With a million PlayStation acquisition rumors out there, and with FromSoftware sharing some of those rumors, this tweet was always going to add fuel to the fire.

For now, take this all for what it is, which is a complete and absolute guess. It’s strange that PlayStation has a gigantic statue of a third-party game character that has nothing to do with PlayStation other than being available on PlayStation platforms. In fact, the game was revealed courtesy of the Xbox E3. However, it is a very popular game and FromSoftware has worked with PlayStation in the past blood borne. However, while the speculation is reasonable, there is not enough here to sound any alarm.
