During a trip to find out more about this particular gift, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) is left to oversee, interestingly, the shooting of a major movie in Downton Abbey – how exciting!
Downton Abbey: A New Era It doesn’t premiere in the US until May 20, but the UK will get the film a little earlier, on April 29. For this reason, critics have already seen the film and the reviews are there. What do you think of the movie Crolls’ latest adventures?
Let’s start with a CinemaBlend review of Downton Abbey: A New Era. Mike Reyes scored the sequel 3.5 stars out of 5, saying that this movie was made with die-hard Downton fans in mind. He says it’s a step up from its predecessor, but still full of charm and embracing the franchise’s history while paving the way into the future:
Anna Smith Limit The movie says it packed a lot in its runtime, and has a lot of plot twists, some of which are very transparent. Fans won’t be mad at it though, and as per usual, Ms. Maggie Smith says she is a scene stealer:
David Rooney The Hollywood Reporter says if the first Downton Abbey The movie was a low-stakes comfort food to please fans of the series, and the sequel is the same, despite the title that seems to promise more. As other critics have mentioned, this is really just for fans:
This sounds like a die-hard fan they won’t want to miss, but those new to the franchise probably shouldn’t be starting here. If this sounds like a movie you have to watch, unfortunately you still have to wait a few weeks. While Downton Abbey: A New Era The film was originally set to hit theaters in March, and the film was moved to its domestic premiere date on May 20.
