‘Hacks’ Drops Season 2 Official Trailer (TV News Roundup)

HBO Max has dropped the official trailer for the second season of “Hacks,” which premieres on the streaming device on May 12 with two episodes, followed by two more episodes every week until June 2. Residing in Vegas, she and young comedian Ava (Hannah Einbender) travel across the country for a new workshop.

Additional cast includes Carl Clemons Hopkins, Jane Adams, Christopher MacDonald, Kaitlyn Olson, Paul W. Downs, Bobby Liu, Rose Abdo, Mark Indelicato, Meg Stalter, Angela E. Gibbs, Lonelly, Johnny Sibley, Joe Mandy, Ali Mackie, Lorenza Ezzo. New recurring guests for season two include Laurie Metcalf, Martha Kelly, Ming-Na Wen, and Susie Essman, as well as guest stars Margaret Cho and Devon Sawa.

“Hacks” was created and presented by Emmy Award winners Paul W. Downs, Lucia Anello and Jane Statsky. Michael Schur executive produces via Fremulon and David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment and Morgan Sackett. The studio is Universal Television, a division of the Universal Studio Group.

The eight-episode drama series stars Yolanda Adams as Denita Jordan, the “Queen of Gospel Music” at First Kingdom Church and Kingdom Records in Atlanta. The script takes viewers behind the scenes into the complex and conflict-ridden world of gospel music. In celebration of the final season of “Grace and Frankie,” Netflix has released “A Farewell to 7 Seasons,” a new feature featuring highlights from the past seven seasons as well as exclusive interviews with the cast and crew. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin plus runners of the show Marta Kaufman and Howard J. Morris take viewers down a memory lane in a 20-minute video. This feature comes just three days before the premiere of the show’s final episodes on April 29. The written comedy stars Fonda and Tomlin in the titular roles, and they are joined by Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Baron Vaughn, Ethan Embry, Brooklyn Decker, John Diane Raphael, Peter Campor, Lindsey Kraft, Marsha Mason, Tim Bagley, Peter Gallagher, Millicent Martin and Kristen Woods. Julian Sergey joined the cast of the third season of the famous comedy series “Ramy”, “Ramy”. Sergey will play Yuval, the title character’s new business partner (played by series creator Ramy Youssef). Sergey is best known for his supporting role in the films “War Dogs” and “Freaks of Nature” as well as appearing in the comedy series Key & Peele.

Emily Hampshire (“Sheets Creek”), Timika Tafari (“Paw Patrol”), Whitmer Thomas (“Sharyl”), and Amar Chadha Patel (“Day Three”) join the cast of Zoe Lister Jones’ original Roku comedy series “Slip” ‘, which stars Lester Jones as a woman frustrated with her marriage who goes on a journey through parallel universes. The show is produced by Dakota Johnson TeaTime Pictures.

Fellowships

The Asia Pacific Alliance in Entertainment (CAPE) has selected its tenth annual Fellowship of New Writers, a non-studio professional development program focused on training new writers in Hollywood. The fellowship, co-founded and chaired by Steve Tao and Liu Zhou, includes leading writers, agents, producers, and industry executives, and this year’s class will feature TV-only writers who will participate in two months of virtual master classes, workshops, panels, table readings, and one-on-one mentoring sessions.
