Foldable devices will be a running topic for 2022, and we expect to see more in the coming months. Xiaomi has already entered the foldable space with devices like the Mi Mix Fold, and we’re about to update. Xiaomi’s foldable update follows a more relaxed update cycle than the glass-panel versions, and that’s understandable. Although it has been more than a year since the Mi Mix Fold was introduced to the market, information is still scant about what the next foldable will look like. But now, we might have some clues as to what it would look like.

The animation file shows some folded corners and cases of an unknown Xiaomi device. Notably, the camera bump on the back of the device is a square with rounded corners, rather than the rectangular bump seen on Mi Mix Fold. This may indicate that Xiaomi may keep the camera setup more practical rather than bleed as it was on the Mi Mix Fold, and perhaps this marks the next foldable product as a mass-market product.
We also see the separation camera on the external display. The internal screen is clean, which indicates that Xiaomi may stick to its decision to not have any cameras on the internal screen at all.
Kacskrz shared more information spotted on MIUI China builds. We know that the Xiaomi foldable is codenamed “zizhan” (opposite the “cetus” for Mi Mix Fold). Furthermore, the code inside MIUI suggests that ‘zizhan’ will share a display panel used for the ‘umi’ which is the codename for the Mi 10. The Mi 10 is a flagship glass panel, so we’re assuming that means the external display on the foldable panel will be the The same panel as the Mi 10. This then suggests that the cover screen is a 90Hz FHD+ panel with HDR 10+ enabled. The screen size of the Mi 10 is 6.67 inches, but the device has curved edges, so the dimensions measured can vary when used on the foldable device.
