Lenovo launches new thin laptops with cool new designs

Earlier this year at CES, Lenovo launched the 2022 Yoga Convertible. Now, it’s time for their premium oyster selection, which will be called Slim in the US, while still being called Yoga Slim elsewhere. Basically, Lenovo is ditching the IdeaPad brand for the premium version. Specifically, there are four laptops and an all-in-one device, including the Lenovo Slim 9i, Slim 7i/7 Pro X, Slim 7i Carbon, Slim 7/7i, and Yoga AIO 7.

“Hybrid Living is the new standard that has inspired the development of this new generation of Lenovo Slim devices. Our goal is to empower more people to be “just you” – to consume, create and collaborate,” said Ouyang Jun, Lenovo Vice President and General Manager Consumer Business Division, Smart Devices Group. On their own terms. “We designed and engineered new computers with smarter features and a more unique user experience to help people realize their ambitions, relax and get things done their way.”

First of all, the lineup is completely redesigned. They use Lenovo’s new ergonomic design with rounded edges. On the Slim 9i, the bezels have the same mirror surface that we’ve already seen on the Lenovo Yoga 9i. In fact, although convertible laptops and luxury clamshells had different designs in the past, they are much more similar now.

The cover is made of glass, which gives it an elegant look, and as you can see from the image above, you’ll get the regular Lenovo brand in the US, or the Yoga brand outside of the US. The color it comes in is called Oatmeal, which is a type of dull gold.

As for the screen, OLED is standard, and you’ll have your choice of 2880 x 1800 at 90Hz or 3840 x 2400 at 60Hz. It has all the other perks you’d expect, too, like a 28W Intel P-series processor, a 1080p webcam, at least 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, and three full Thunderbolt 4 ports. It even has a big old 75Wh battery while still weighing 3.02 pounds. The volume is also raised, something we saw in the convertible version with the rotating soundbar. Now, my clamshell Slim 9i will have two 2W tweeters and two 3W tweeters, for powerful sound tuned by Bowers and Wilkins.

It also includes Lenovo AI Core 2.0, which will do things like adjust the fan speed for better performance. The Lenovo Slim 9i will arrive in June with a starting price of $1,799.

Lenovo Slim 7i Pro X

Next up is the Lenovo Slim 7i Pro X, which the company says uses the Lenovo X Power, a suite of features including better temperatures and CPU and GPU selection for different use cases.

It has powerful internals, too, just like you’d expect from something called the Pro X. You can get it with the 12th generation Intel processors in the Lenovo Slim 7i Pro X or AMD’s Ryzen 6000 HS Creator Edition chips in the 7 Pro X. For graphics, it comes Equipped with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050.

Notably, it comes with a 14-inch 3072 x 1920 screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Other notable specs include two 2-watt Harman speakers with Dolby Atmos, LPDDR5 memory at 6000MHz on the Intel model and 6400MHz on the AMD model, and a 1080p webcam.

When it arrives in June, the Slim 7i Pro X will start at $1,699 while the Slim 7 Pro X will start at $1,499.

Lenovo Slim 7i Carbon, Slim 7 and Slim 7i

Another great one is the Slim 7i Carbon, which weighs just 2.13 pounds while still packing Intel’s 28W P-series processors. At its thinnest point, it comes in at 14.8mm, and comes in colors like Moon White, Cloud Gray, and Storm Gray. As for the screen, you will get a 13.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a refresh rate of 90Hz.

Then we have the rest of the Lenovo Slim 7 and 7i series. It comes in 14- and 16-inch sizes, and packs Intel P-series, H-series, and AMD HS Creator Edition chips. Graphics go up to a GeForce RTX 2050 in the 14-inch model, and for the 16-inch version you get Intel Arc A370M graphics in the Intel variant, and up to an RTX 3050 Ti in the Slim 7.

The display options look very nice. On the 14-inch model, it goes up to 2880 x 1800 OLED with a 90Hz refresh rate or 2880 x 1800 IPS with a 120Hz refresh rate. Or, on the 16-inch model, it comes with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, along with a 120Hz or 165Hz refresh rate, depending on whether you’re getting an Intel or AMD model, respectively.

The Lenovo Slim 7i Carbon will come in June with a starting price of $1,299. The 16-inch Slim 7 is also coming in June, starting at $1,499, although the 14-inch Slim 7 won’t be coming to the US. Intel’s 16-inch variant will arrive in June, with a starting price of $1,599.

Lenovo Yoga AIO 7

Finally, we have the Lenovo Yoga AIO 7, which, as the name suggests, is an all-in-one PC.
