Road Dogg addresses Randy Orton’s critical comments about WWE NXT Superstars on the main roster

WWE’s Randy Orton recently spoke out after making comments about working with superstars from NXT on Raw, saying they don’t know what they’re doing in the ring when they make it to the main roster. Road Dogg recently had these comments this week Oh… you don’t knowand provides a fairly nuanced look at Orton’s comments, understanding where he’s coming from but also highlighting the differences between what NXT has focused on and what Raw and SD primarily do.

“I don’t disagree with him at all. For him to say they don’t know what they’re doing, I think you could say and he’s somewhat right, but they know what they’re doing. They just do,” said Road Dogg.

“But protect your opponent, look, these guys go in there and hit each other hard. Now it’s not just hard work. It’s huge stunts and it’s rolling on the ground. So you have to protect yourself and you have to protect your opponent because at the end of the day, it’s work, it’s work, and I have To go home with my wife and children to be able to take my grandchildren my age.”

Agrees with Orton’s overall view but also notes that part of doing the job is learning while you’re doing it, and some of those stars coming from NXT still don’t have that much overall experience. “So I totally understand where Randy is coming from. I think Randy is right, but sometimes guys go there very early and haven’t worked anywhere before. Some guys started during the pandemic and never worked in front of a live audience,” Rod Dogg said.

“I literally saw Randy on the show talking to The Street Profits where the match was going when he was in the ring with them. I thought, ‘Man, that’s so cool.'” Randy knows these kids because he’s having a match with them.” It’s an on-the-job training, said Road Dog. This is how you should do it. “It was a different animal there (NXT). It was a wrestling show, so the tempo was faster, the speed was faster, wrestling was more important.”

“On the main menu, it’s all about fun and entertainment because not all 25-year-old guys in black shirts watch RAW. Families watch RAW so you have to give them those fun parts like the wedding section that happened last week, you have to hit them,” said Road Dogg. With this colorful entertainment because that’s what he plays for the larger audience. I know people will disagree with that, but that’s what I see.”
