After a huge leak last week, Google has finally announced the latest addition to its line of wireless earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro. The earbuds will be available in four colors at $199 and go on sale starting in July.
Pixel Buds Pro are Google’s latest foray into the world of personal audio products, with the goal of delivering powerful sound in a compact package. The earbuds will feature a custom-designed 11mm tweeter driver, with ANC front lining feature. According to Google, its ANC technology outperforms its competitors, offering the best possible experience thanks to a dedicated sound processor. The six-core audio chip is powered by Google developed algorithms, tuned by Google’s own in-house audio team. In order to provide the best possible ANC, the chip also contains a neural processing engine, which can analyze external sounds with very low latency.

To provide the best experience, Google should build on the above technology, as well as consider the physical aspects of the device and how it fits in the ear. In order to get the best results, Google mentions that it is important to have a great seal. The tips of the earphones need to create a binaural seal in order to create the optimal ANC experience. This isn’t always possible due to differences in ear shapes, but Google has been able to offset this problem with something called “Silent Seal” technology. This technology compensates for sound leakage, increasing the noise that is canceled out. Google Pixel Buds Pro will also offer a Transparency mode, which will allow external noise in, creating a seamless experience between the user and the outside world.

Not only will Pixel Buds Pro deliver excellent in-ear sound quality, but it will also be able to deliver high-quality sound thanks to its array of beamformed microphones that will use a Noise Suppression Algorithm to filter out unwanted external sounds such as wind and traffic. Google’s six-core audio chip will drive this kind of experience, and the end result is higher sound quality for entertainment and calls.
Pixel Buds Pro will provide up to 11 hours of listening time in standard mode or 7 hours when listening with ANC activated. It will be based on existing Pixel Buds technology, taking advantage of all Google services such as getting help from the Assistant or real-time language translations. Google’s Pixel Buds Pro will also have multipoint connectivity, allowing the earbuds to seamlessly transition from your laptop to your phone without requiring user interaction. At some point in the future, Pixel Buds Pro will be updated to offer spatial audio support as well.
