Warner’s Argentinian Hit Thriller ‘Echoes’ goes to Film Factory

Film Factory Entertainment acquired the international sales rights to Christian Bernard’s thriller “Ecos de un crimen” (“Echoes”), which was successfully released in Argentina by Warner Bros Pictures and HBO Max.

Barcelona-based Film Factory, which has previously handled popular Latin American titles such as “Wild Tales”, “La Llorona” and “The Clan”, will present “Echoes” to international buyers at the Cannes Film Market next week.

After a theatrical release on January 27, “Echoes” has sold more than 105,000 tickets, becoming the biggest domestic hit at the Argentine box office since March 2020, the start of the COVID-19 quarantine.

“Echoes” was produced by Particular Crowd, the original content label for WarnerMedia Latin America, along with Buenos Aires-based Tieless Media, the production company founded by Fernando Abadi.

The film is about Julien Lemar, a world-famous novel writer under pressure from his publisher to complete the final novel in his hugely successful franchise, who goes on vacation with his family – his supportive wife Valeria, daughter Sophia and their baby Santi – a secluded chalet deep in the woods.

On the first night, a strong storm breaks out, which leads to a power outage. Then a hysterical woman knocks on the door, announcing that their husbands have just killed her infant son and they want to kill her too.

Since then, for Julian, a hellish night begins in his search for the truth, his living and his family’s outlook on the line as the film climbs into tension and a constructive sense of claustrophobia – physical and mental – as it delivers the first in a series of increasingly devastating twists.

Argentine box office star Diego Peretti (The Heist of the Century), the cast also includes Giulietta Cardinale (Carta Eva), Carla Quevedo (The Secret in Their Eyes), Diego Cremonese (“Rojo”) and Carola Reina (“Pitibo”).

The film is produced by Ricardo Freixa and Fernando Abadi, and directed by Tomas Yanclevich, Peter Bevan and Mariana Sangorgo.

“Following the success of “Ecos de un Crimen” in Argentina with Warner Bros., which has changed the direction of Argentine cinemas showings in recent years, we are very pleased to see now that we can strengthen this trend at an international level thanks to Ricardo Frexa, Partner and Producer at Telles Media. ”The fact that a company with the impeccable reputation of Film Factory will take care of its international sales.”

“The market will love this exciting film, which has a lot of suspense, a very unexpected development and a great performance by Diego Peretti. We hope that Argentina will continue to succeed in many other regions,” added Vicente Canales, founder of Film Factory.
