X-Men reveals Dr. Stasis’ relationship with the fan-favorite classic villain

New Marvel X-Men The series had a mysterious villain lurking in the wings of its story — and now, after version 11, we know that the villain, Dr. Stasis, has a game-changing connection to one of the classic X-Men enemies, who remains a fan favorite. If you haven’t been following, the new mutant X-Men nation of Krakow still needs a traditional superhero team in the world making mutant look good, but the threat of the anti-mutant human science and technology group, ORCHIS still looms large.

The new X-Men series introduced “Doctor Stasis” as a revolutionary geneticist with the rank of Director of Sixth Petals Department at Orchis, Human Resources. Stasis and his genetically animal-like creations were messing with the mutant nation of Krakoa and the X-Men – most notably when Stasis was handed the corpse of Cyclops (from an X-Men suicide mission to prevent Orchis’s Master Mold from coming online), cracking the secret that the mutant had achieved The real resurrection. Stasis leaked the information to reporter Ben Ulrich, which almost put Krakow’s biggest secret into the public space. In X-Men #11, the team finally tracks down Dr. Stasis into his layer.

Gerry Duggan, Pepe Larraz, Marte Gracia and VC’s Clayton Cowles present an action-packed case with some stunning artwork, a two-part story of the X-Men finally dealing with the various factions (terrestrial and cosmic) that have been striving to obtain them. Doctor Stasis’ story sees Giant/Captain Krakow and Cinch fighting the evil Orchis at his sewage base; At the height of that fight, Cyclops got the best of Dr. The attack smashes Stasis’ helmet and reveals that the face underneath is that of Mr. Sinister!

Or is he? The black bat symbol on the forehead (instead of the sinister red diamond) and the unrecognition of the Cyclops suggest this may be “Sinister” in appearance only…

Sinister’s role was one of the more confusing aspects of the new X-Men lore created by Fantastic Four and Secret Wars writer Jonathan Hickman in the House of X reboot. The traditional Sinister we know and love to hate is currently in Krakoa and is a cunning snake member of the ruling Quiet Council, playing a risky game with Destiny (the character). At the same time, the Sinister stronghold on the island is filled with endless leagues of evil clones, who have switched places for various missions and schemes (see: Hell). House of X also introduced the concept of Sinister experiments in alternate timelines, connecting mutants and clones, giving rise to a whole new (cool!) generation of mutant “chimeras”, who possess a mixture of different combinations of high-level mutant power.

ORCHIS also plays an ambitious game to keep humanity (and the human-machine hybrid) in keeping with the mutants as both sides prepare for the inevitable war of genetic control. Stasis could play a central role in chess in Moira Mactaggert’s multiple life schedules, and may be the key to explaining how “Dr. Stasis” came to be.

X-Men #11 is on sale at Marvel Comics.
