In Deep Fear, Ghenea plays Naomi in the film, a yacht master who is sailing on a solo cruise in the Caribbean. Her last stop was Grenada, where she plans to meet her boyfriend, Jackson (Westwick), until a storm forces her off course and into the tracks of drug smugglers. When Naomi is forced to dive to retrieve their medicine from a sinking ship, she comes face to face with a swarm of evil sharks. With only her wits to fend off them, Naomi must do everything in her power to stay alive.

Marcus Adams (“Long Time Dead”) directed the film, which wrapped up in Malta last month.

“Deep Fear’s tense and deadly underwater scenes are the visual and metaphorical core of the film,” Adams says. “When we filled our studio’s water tank (100m wide x 13m deep) with over 1 million gallons of seawater, we were told it would take four days for the sediment to settle and allow visibility. Four days we didn’t have on our shooting schedule. Fortunately, at Day two we filmed a test dive and knew we hit gold. The lack of clarity and the dark conditions created the perfect tone and setting for this dark and sinister thriller. Visible enough to see but not enough to be sure of their surroundings, which left the characters only partially in control and created a sense of threat Plunging into the blackness of the deep sea, there is a deep fear that grips the audience of our film and will not let it go.”

The screenplay was written by Robert Capelli Jr. (“Rules (For Men)”) and Sophia Aptamintis (“Indomitable Summer”), while “Brilliant Pictures” was written by Sean O’Kelly (“Marine Cole”) and Mark Bekendo (“Black Dahlia”) and produced alongside. alongside Halo Pictures’s Engelbert Grech (“The Raft”) and Chris Bongern (“WE”).
