Bridgerton was praised for the diversity of its cast, but the applause grew even more when Chandran and Ashley joined for season two because they have darker skin than the Indian actors traditionally cast in Hollywood for important roles.

Ashley, who plays Kate, remembers meeting Chandran for the first time.
“Honestly, I have never worked with another Tamil actress before,” she said. “We were about to have a rehearsal together and I showed up. I was trying to be very professional but I wanted to pull it aside and say, ‘We have a lot to talk about.'” “
The second season of “Bridgerton” is still among the 10 most-watched shows on Netflix since it premiered in late March. “You always worry about the second-year slump that people are talking about,” Coughlan said.
Chandran added, “It’s so good to know that the love for the show is so real and it wasn’t just luck or anything else. People loved season one and they loved season two.”
