Jessica Chastain plays Donald Trump’s sister in ‘Armageddon Time’

Jessica Chastain surprised audiences at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday, when she appeared in a surprising ’80s short film “Armageddon Time” as Marianne Trump, Donald Trump’s sister.

Chastain’s role is small but effective. As Marianne Trump, she appears as a guest lecturer at a Spartan private school where movie star Michael Banks scores Repetta in the middle of the film. She lectures distinguished boys and girls about the value of ambition in a Phyllis Schlafly-esque beehive. Trump worked as a United States attorney in the 1970s in New Jersey, and President Ronald Reagan appointed him to a seat in the United States District Court for New Jersey in 1983.

Set in the early 1980s, “Armageddon Time” tends to maintain “greed is good” and offers glimpses of Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign.

More is coming.
