Peacock series “Twisted Metal” cast in Thomas Haden Church

Peacock’s “Twisted Metal” series cast Thomas Haden Church.

Church will star in the previously announced series, led by Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz. The show is described as a half-hour action comedy based on the Playstation video game of the same name.

In the show, an eccentric person (Maki) is offered a chance for a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of Happy Trigger Car Thief (Beatriz), he’ll face brutal thieves driving devastating vehicles and other dangers on the open road, including a deranged clown driving an all-too-familiar ice cream truck.

Church will play Agent Stone, who is said to be a cold and stubborn post-apocalyptic highway patrolman who rules the roads with a silver tongue and a twisted iron fist, prosecuting even the smallest crimes with the harshest sentences. Agent Stone will stop at nothing to restore law and order to the divided states of America, and will kill anyone in his path who challenges his authority.

Church previously earned an Academy Award nomination for his role in the 2004 movie “Sideways.” He won an Emmy in 2007 for starring in the short series “Broken Trail” opposite Robert Duvall. He is also known for starring in features such as “Spider-Man 3” as Sandman, a role he reprized in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. His other feature credits include “Easy A”, “The Peanut Butter Falcon” and “We B Buy a Zoo”. He previously starred in the popular sitcom “Wings” and also starred in the shows “Divorce” and “Ned and Stacey” among others.

It was commissioned by CAA, Finley Management and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

The show is based on an original shot by “Deadpool” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Michael Jonathan Smith will serve as writer, model, and executive producer. Both Reese and Wernick are also executive producers. Mackie will executive produce as well as star in. Kitao Sakurai will direct several episodes as well as executive production. Will Arnett and Marc Forman will executive produce across Electric Avenue, which secured material rights and helped assemble the project. Jason Spire of Inspire Entertainment, Peter Principato of Artists First, Lion of the Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions, and PlayStation Studios president Hermine Holst will also carry out production. He will produce Sony Pictures Television, Playstation Productions, and Universal Television.
