FLX to produce an “honest life” thriller based on the novel by Joachim Zander

FLX, owned by Swedish company SF Studios, is developing the thriller based on Joakim Zander’s novel “An Honest Life”.

Published in April, Fair Life is set on a university campus in Lund, southern Sweden. During a violent protest, a lost young law student meets a woman who introduces him to her eccentric friends. Their lives revolve around radical ideals, as well as lies. When he finally realizes what he was involved in, it’s already too late to get out.

Filming is set to begin next fall with the featured creators, whose names will be announced at a later stage.

“Elegantly, intelligently, and excitingly, Joakim Zander weaves a diabolical heist with a classic narrative about coming of age,” said Anna Anthony, Head of Feature Films at FLX.

“I love that it’s set in and around Lund University: September-lit brick walls covered in Boston ivy, infatuation, betrayal, questions of right and wrong, morals, class, and a hero straddling the gap between adolescence and adulthood,” Anthony added.

“After several years of TV series dominance, the pendulum is on the cusp of a return to feature films,” said Astri von Arben Ahlander, managing director of the North’s leading literary agency, Ahlander Agency. The Executive Director described “A Fair Life” as “a very original and especially cinematic thriller novel”.

Meanwhile, Zander said he shares “the same vision for this project, in terms of story and visuals” with Anthony at FLX. “We were obviously very excited to see an honest life with FLX. My novel could not be in better hands,” Zander added.

FLX credits include “The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbing Out of the Window,” “Quicksand,” “Love & Anarchy,” “Solsidan The Movie,” and “Comedy Queen.”
