Join Anime is founded by Shueisha, Aniplex, and more

The animation industry appears to be growing even larger thanks to a new joint venture overseas. Not too long ago, reports from Japan confirmed that some of the best anime and manga brands were coming together to create a company known together as Join. At this time, Wit Studio is participating in the project together with Aniplex, CloverWorks and Shueisha.

According to reports, Join is being set up with a specific goal in mind. The company will plan anime TV series, anime and shorts. Join will oversee everything from development to production and completion by coordinating talent across its founding brands.

The Join Company was also created with the hope of equalizing the animation industry in a small way. It’s no secret that the industry suffers from its share of issues ranging from low wages to unpaid overtime. Working conditions have been scrutinized more and more over the years, but The Join Company hopes to address this issue. The company says it wants to offer a simplified business model for its established brands. This will help distribute profits more evenly between employees, creators and animators.

As for its top companies, Join is led by CloverWorks producer Yuichi Fukushima and Wit Studio producer Tetsuya Nakatake. The pair are taking the lead as representative directors while The Join Company is on its own two feet. For those unfamiliar with any of these artists, Fukushima is best known for their work on The Promised Neverland and Fate/Grand Order. Nakatake has worked on every season of Attack on Titan under Wit Studio as well as Sengoku Basara and Kabaneri of Iron Castle.
