If you play league of legends Over the past week, you’ve probably noticed that things are different in terms of survivability, damage output, and overall meta. The last big update released for the game was the “absolutely amazing” durability update, a patch that touched every hero in the game and included some quick follow-up changes to control some outliers. It should come as no surprise, then, that the next update coming out in about a week is yet another big update with Riot Games calling this a “huge patch” in itself.
Although the patch notes for this update will be out next week, players won’t have to wait that long to see what heroes and other aspects of the game will be tweaked in the next patch. Riot Phroxzon, lead designer of game balance for Summoner’s Rift, has shared the next preview of the next big update to show off some of the heroes and other components that will be affected.

Among the heroes listed out there who suffer from a loss of strength, many shouldn’t be surprised. Brand and Cena, for example, have seen more play lately as have jungle players like Olaf and Lilia who have found safer places in the top lane as well. The stronger heroes have naturally overshadowed the weaker ones, so it’s also unsurprising to see a strong roster of heroes shine as well.
Elements of strong and weak assassins such as Duskblade, Prowler’s Claw, and Umbral Glaive were frequent topics of discussion as well. Tank heroes have generally become “weaker” in the last update with a few unspecified exceptions, so items they frequently use like Randuin’s Omen, Spirit Visage, and more are being refined.
Riot Phroxzon followed up that tweet with another that named a few hardcore heroes in this upcoming update, but said those will be affected by the relevant changes.
“Champions who failed to score: Jana, Singhid, Trandl, Shivana, Mordkaiser, Efren, Rinnicton, Suraka, Allstar,” Phroxzon said riots. “These champions were a watershed line, but were either affected by other changes in the patch or just missed according to the champion balance framework.”
