Velez gets news of an injury that won’t help him recover from a bad start

Heading into their June 1 game against the San Francisco Giants, the Philadelphia Phillies received horrific injury news regarding Jean Segura and Bryce Harper.

The Philadelphia Phillies are tied 0-2 in their current series against the San Francisco Giants, and their odds of winning in the third and final game of the series are greatly reduced.

Hours before the game, Phillies’ team member Jim Salisbury shared two important injury updates: Jean Segura’s brief 10-12 week absence, and right-hander Bryce Harper came out with a soreness in his right forearm.

Without Segura and Harper, Phillies is not expected to walk out of Citizens Bank Park with a win to end the series.

Al Feliz has been criticized for a chaotic streak against the Giants, as “two teams with the struggling Bulls went on to additional roles,” Alex Pavlovic from NBC Sports Bay Area put it.

One account that seemed to sum up Philadelphia’s suffering was the Jeurys Familia’s inability to tie his shoes.

Philadelphia athlete Mark Henry Jr. compiled a list of everything Phillies coach Joe Girardi did wrong during their last game.

Henry Jr. notes that Gerardi’s decision to get Segura, one of the team’s top hitters, was costly: That’s how Segura injured his right finger.

It’s a tough time to be a Phillies fan, considering that Segura won’t be back until the Phillies are likely out of competition.

Blowing up two competing matches on giants is frustrating enough, but losing two key players to being late in the NL East is a devastating blow. Understandably, Philadelphia fans are ready to give up on the season the way Gerardi seems to have done.

Currently, the Phillies is ranked third in the NL East with a number 21-29. Without Jean Segura and Bryce Harper, this would likely be 21-30 soon.
