Old friends and directors Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary will be launching their first podcast next month where they will revisit some of their favorite old B movies and discover new ones.
Set to premiere on July 19, “The Video Archives Podcast” will feature the duo re-watching and discussing films taken from the actual collection of VHS tapes they used to recommend to clients when they worked at the original location of the popular Video Archives movie rental store in Manhattan Beach, California. , for nearly 40 years. It is produced with SiriusXM podcast subsidiary Stitcher.
Tarantino and Avary met in the Video Archives in 1983 where they shared their love of lesser-known films. Their encyclopedic knowledge of films made them local celebrities, before they collaborated on the screenplay for the Academy Award-winning “Pulp Fiction.” Tarantino acquired the video archives in 1995 and rebuilt the store in his home.
The podcast will feature a Tarantino and Avary waxworks film about films such as “Dark Star,” “Moonraker,” “Demonoid,” “Messenger of Death,” and “Piranha.” They will be joined by podcaster Gala Avary, who is Roger’s daughter.
