Steam Deck and Pocket Analog Price Competitors for PS5 and Xbox Series X | Games | entertainment

PS5 and Xbox Series X have been selling at amazing prices in the used car market since these systems were launched. An unprecedented shortage of stock coupled with a huge demand for Sony and Microsoft systems has led to these consoles being sold at extremely inflated prices from resellers. This may not all seem like news to you given the widely reported nature of the PS5 and Xbox Series X stock shortages. But what may surprise you is that these consoles aren’t the only modern gaming systems experiencing a huge second hand price jump.

The Steam Deck and Pocket Analog Handhelds – released in 2022 and 2021 – are also in great demand and not widely available.

Steam Deck is a handheld device from Steam maker Valve, which provides a PC gaming experience on the go.

Launched in February 2022, the system comes in three different specifications – 64GB model, 256GB and 512GB model.

Steam Deck prices start at £349, and if you want to order one directly from Valve, you’ll have to wait.

You can head over to the Steam website and make a reservation for an upcoming batch of inventory, but it won’t be delivered until after the third quarter of 2022.

So if you go that route, you’ll get Steam Deck in October 2022 or later.

Alternatively, you can try and buy a Steam Deck from the retailer if you’re keen to get your hands on the console ASAP.

But used Steam Decks are being sold at a significantly inflated price.

CeX has Steam Deck controllers available for purchase on their website.

However, you’ll have to buy a lot more than RRP – with the entry-level Steam Deck priced at twice its regular price.

The 64GB Steam Deck is available from CeX for £700, with the 256GB version costing £850 and the 512GB version priced at £1,000.

The usual pricing for 256GB and 512GB Steam Decks is £459 and £569, respectively.

Valve’s mobile system isn’t the only new system that sells for a high price when used, with the Analogue Pocket also in high demand.

From analog retro console specialists, this system lets you play a wide range of classic portable games that have been transformed into the modern era thanks to a gorgeous 1600 x 1440 LCD screen.

Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games are available to play on your analog pocket device, while you can also purchase additional accessories to play Game Gear, Atari Lynx, and Neo Geo Pocket games.

Thanks to FPGA technology, Analogue Pocket will no longer rely on emulation to play thousands of these classic games, and will run exactly as it was intended on the original hardware.

Like Steam Deck, you have to queue and pre-order the Analog Pocket with orders now expected to ship in 2023.

Pricing for the Analog Pocket is $219.99 / £174.69. However, you will have to pay additional fees for shipping to the UK (where Analogue is based in the US) and you may have to pay customs fees as well.

If you want to go ahead with the pre-order queue and buy from a distributor, you can do so today but will have to shell out more.

CeX has an Analogue Pocket listed online, with a boxed console priced at £400.

That’s more than double the recommended retail price (excluding shipping and potential tariffs), but at the time of writing CeX doesn’t have any in stock.

On eBay right now you can get the Analogue Pocket from UK distributors, but again you’ll pay more than double the suggested retail price.
