Apple Mail app on iOS 16 lets you buy your own domains

Apple revealed iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura during the keynote at WWDC 2022. These new operating systems offer some of the much-requested features that users have requested. For example, the iPhone lock screen is now fully customizable. Plus, the M1 iPads now support resizable windows – taking multitasking on these panes of glass to the next level. Apple Mail also receives some love from the company in these versions. Users can now opt out of sending new emails, take advantage of richer search functions, and more. Notably, Cupertino is now allowing Apple Mail users on iOS 16 to purchase their own domain names.

For those who are not familiar with the current custom email domain feature, it is iCloud Plus. Service subscribers get to associate one of their domains with iCloud Mail and create/use custom email addresses. What Apple created in Mail on iOS 16 is the ability to directly search for and purchase domains through Cloudflare.

iOS 16 beta 1 already has a user interface for this feature, and you can search for domain names just fine. After selecting the desired option, you will be redirected to Cloudflare to complete the purchase. Given that he is a beta 1 developer, don’t expect everything to work as expected. Apple can disable it in a future beta or cancel the entire plan if you decide not to ship it in the final version – for whatever reason.

You can get the stable build of iOS 16 this fall. If you’re too impatient (like us) and want to test out the latest and greatest of this major release, you can either join the developer beta program for $99 per year or wait for the public free trial – which launches a month later.
